Buccanos beach club is located at Carretera San Juan Kilometro 4.5, Zona Hotelera Nte., 77613 Cozumel, Q.R., Mexico. This was about a 20 minute drive from the cruise port!
It opens it’s doors at 10 am local time.
Buccanos is ranked in the top 10 beach clubs in Cozumel and for good reason. If you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing this club, you really should for your next trip to Mexico.
In this post I will give you an honest review and feedback of the club, food, drinks, activities and tips.
This post is all about Buccanos Beach Club.
Top Reasons To Choose Buccanos:
1. It’s Beautiful
First and foremost, this beach club is absolutely stunning. It is the picture perfect place if you’re looking for a nice place to spend your day in Cozumel.
From the luxurious stone, breathtaking ocean views, palm trees and a spacious pool, this beach club has it all.
Check out this full walkthrough video I have linked below to see the beach club.
2. Fair Pricing
Prices do change but when I most recently went to Buccanos beach club it cost $25/per person for an entry fee.
However, this charge is credited back to you towards your food and drink purchases! This is a nice perk instead of having to pay to get in and then pay for anything else you want on top of that with no credit added.
If you do not spend $25 however then whatever you don’t spend, they will just keep. If you spend more than $25 on food, drinks, etc, then you will pay the difference.
For example: we had 3 people going to Buccanos beach club. We paid $75 to get in. While we were at the beach club we ordered 3 drinks & 2 entrees and it was only $4 over what we already paid. We were very happy with the value of what we got for what we spent.
Note:
This beach club is not all inclusive like a few other popular beach clubs in Cozumel.
If an all inclusive day is what you’re looking for, unforuately you won’t get it here. I do think it is worth the money though and a great value for what you get so I would still try it out for yourself.
3. Great Food And Drinks
I didn’t know what to expect the first time we went to Buccanos beach club but I was actually impressed when we recieved our food and drinks.
Here are pictures of the menus offered:

What we ordered:
I ordered the traditional chicken nachos. These were on the appetizer menu and were delicious!
They were a very large portion so I would suggest sharing between a couple of people if you want to order this dish.
It had beans, cheese, pico, cilantro, sour cream, and chicken.
My in laws ordered the coconut crusted shrimp with porblano corn rice.
I didn’t personally try this because I unfortunately don’t like seafood but they both raved about this dish!
The shrimp were very large. They said the shrimp and rice were very good and they were extremely happy with this choice.
Everything was a good price too which was a nice addition.
The last thing we ordered were a few pina coladas. These were creamy, well mixed and tasted great!
Everything you would want in a beach side cocktail.

4. Relaxing Atmosphere
Buccanos had the most relaxing vibe of all of the different beach clubs I have been to before. If you’re looking for a party atmosphere, this isn’t the club for you.
However, if you’re looking for a outstanding beach day, this is the club to try. Sit in the beach chairs and stare at the ocean, take a dive in the pool, feel the breeze as you sip pina coladas in the restaurant area.
It felt more like a local spot than a cruise tourist destination. We actually saw our cruise director at the beach club so that was a good sign to us that it was one of the top places to be.
5. Close To The Cruise Port
Buccanos beach club was about a 20 minute taxi ride from the cruise port we parked at with Carnival. This will vary depending on which port you are docked at.
It was a quick and easy ride that is not too far from the ports. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to travel a long distance for their shore excursion or just wants some place to stop at for a few hours, I’d recommend it.
Amenities And Activities:
If you decide to spend your day in Cozumel at Buccanos beach club here is a list of what they have to offer:
- Beach chairs with shade
- Fresh water pool
- Ocean access
- Restaurant
- Bar
- Snorkeling
- Diving
- Photo sessions
- Massages
- Parasailing
- Jet skis
- Gift shop
Most of these options will come at an added cost. You can do as many or as few as you want for your day at the beach.
Overall Thoughts & Tips:
Get there as soon as it opens to get a good seat
Buccanos opens at 10am. It is a little bit later than other beach clubs in the area. This is a good and bad thing in my opinion. It’s good if you want to sleep in a little bit later or take your time getting off the ship in the morning.
It is a little bit of a downside if you’re someone who likes to have as many hours as they can for their port day.
I would suggest getting to the beach club right when they open to get a good seat.
Bring a float for the ocean
The ocean here is a stunning small area that has TONS of fish you’re able to view with ease!
The current did get slgihtly strong when I was there from the boats and jet skis so I would recommend bringing a small float you can inflate quickly and also fold up to store easily.
This is my favorite option and also is a top rated product:
Make sure to check out the entire property
This beach club is absolutely beautiful with a lot to offer. Make sure to walk around the entire property after getting your beach chair secured so you don’t miss anything.
There is the beach side, pool side, massage area, restaurant, art gallery, gift. shop and more.
They have to call a taxi for you
When it’s time for you to get back to the port you’ll ask the staff to call a taxi for you.
Be sure to add this time into your travel time so you aren’t late getting back to the ship. A taxi could come in just a couple minutes or could take about 20 minutes to get there.
Ask for a taxi, close out your tab, and do any shopping before you leave while you’re waiting.
Extremely nice bathrooms
Buccanos beach club has some of the nicest bathrooms I’ve seen at a beach club in Cozumel.
If you want to see them, the walkthrough video near the beginning of the post shows the inside of the bathrooms at this club.
It was really nice to have large and luxury bathrooms at this beach club since that is not always the case on your port stops on a cruise.
You don’t have to have a reservation
A great thing about Buccanos is you don’t have to have a reservation to go here.
Although, I would suggest getting to the beach club when it opens at 10 am so you are able to get a pick of beach chairs.
It will cost about $25 per person to get into the beach club but like I stated before, this is credited back to you in food and beverage purchases.
Overall Thoughts:
Overall, I loved my time at Buccanos beach club and could not reccomend it enough! It was stunning, more luxurious than a few other clubs, relaxing, great food and drinks and had so much to offer.
If you’re looking for a beach club you haven’t been to before in Cozumel I would 100% give this one a try to see how you like it!
