Cruise Outfits For Every Occasion
Embarkation Day
When going on a cruise you will see lots of different clothes options for embarkation day. There will be people in matching tshirts, sundresses, two piece sets, work out clothes, jeans, swimsuit cover ups and more.
For embarkation day I would suggest wearing something that you’re comfortable in. The great thing about cruising is you will see all different styles but each one is acceptable. You can be extremely casual or dressed up, whatever you want! (As long as it’s appropriate)
Two Piece Sets
Two piece sets are a great option if you want something cute to throw on but is still comfortable.
You can dress them up or down depending on the look you’re going for. Or you could start casual in the morning when you get on the ship and then elevate your look with some heels and jewelry for dinner.

Rompers
Rompers are another popular choice for any time on the ship. Embarkation day, a sea day or even out in port. A romper is a great option for a cruise outfit because you can just throw it on and you’re ready to go!

Dresses
Dresses are another great example of cruise outfits for women that work for any occasion on the ship.
Wanting to look nice for dinner? Dress. Needing a quick and flowy option for a beach day in port? Dress.
Dresses are my personal favorite option to pack for cruises. They are lightweight, easy to pack and don’t take up a ton of space.
T-Shirts
Cruise themed tshirts are SUPER popular! You will be guaranteed to see at least one group of people if not 10 or more wearing cruise tshirts.
There are so many options out there. If you’re looking to have a fun matching shirt for your family vacation these are a great option to get on the ship with.
Another option would be a bachelorette or girls trip cruise to buy themed shirts.
It’s also an easier way to spot people in your group if you’re all roaming around the ship! Check out the options below for your next cruise!
Dinner Dresses
Dresses as stated above are my favorite article of clothing to wear to dinner.
They’re a great option to elevate your look. You can also buy outfits for dinner based on the theme nights for your cruise.
Cruises will have a different theme every night such as casual, 70s, tropical, white night, formal, gala, etc. You don’t have to dress up for these nights but if you want to partake in them be sure to look up what themes will be on your specific cruise.
If you’re looking for something more casual for dinner any of the embarkation outfits shown above would also be a great option. Even on formal night if you don’t want to dress up, you don’t have to.
Now there may be extra rules in the main dining room for that night like no tank tops or shorts so as long as you are dressing as they wish, you still don’t have to dress very formal unless you want to of course. I personally love dressing up for formal night but it’s not mandatory.

Sea Day/Port Day Swimsuit Cover Ups
When relaxing on the ship for a day at sea a cute swimsuit cover up is a must! Having a cover up is an easy option to throw over your swimsuit if you want to leave the pool deck for some lunch in the buffet or maybe you need to grab something out of your room.
Another popular time to wear a swim suit cover up is for port days. If you’re going on a tropical cruise you might have a port stop or two where you’ll have a nice day in the sun or on the beach.
It’s super common when getting off of the cruise ship to see people in swimsuits with cover ups on to walk through port.
If you would like to wear other clothes that is also an option. A swimsuit cover up is just an easy grab, put on and go option when you’re up early in the morning and want to get off of the ship quickly.
Active Wear
Active wear is a must if you’re wanting to go to the gym on your cruise or maybe attend a stretch or yoga class.
It’s also just a good casual option to walk around the ship in on those hot summer days.
I’ll get up early on cruises to work out or get some steps in on the walking track by the pool deck and then keep my athletic clothes on to go to the buffet for breakfast or walk around the ship.

Additional Casual Options
From leggings to tank tops, sweaters, or hoodies, casual outfits are the most popular you’ll see on your cruise vacation.
These work for any day of your cruise.
Accessories
Accessories for your cruise outfits are a must! After you find the perfect outfits for your vacation then you can match them with hats, shoes and bags.
Check out some of the options below.
Hats
Hats are VITAL for a tropical cruise. The summer heat is no joke and sun protection is very important.
Be sure to bring a hat with you for the days relaxing on the pool deck or walking through the ports.
Shoes
When it comes to a cruise, of course get the cute pair of heels for dinner but make sure you bring a couple comfortable pairs of shoes as well.
You will do A LOT of walking on a cruise ship and also in port. Possibly more than you do on a day to day basis back home. You’ll want to bring a couple of comfy options that will last you the entire day without your feet hurting.
You might also need water shoes for a couple excursions so be sure to check out these options linked below as well!
Bags
When going on a cruise of course you will have a couple large suitcases to pack but you also should bring a smaller bag with you.
These bags are great for embarkation day when you have dropped off your large bag but still need to carry on your travel documents and other essentials.
They’re also great for port days. When going in port you might want to bring a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, water and more. Having a beach tote or backpack to carry your things is the way to go.
Check out the options below for the most popular bag options you’ll see on a cruise.
