Costa Maya, Mexico is a popular cruise stop on western caribbean cruises. However, it is not the most loved cruise port by many.
A lot of people suggest staying on the ship but one cheap and good place to go if your cruise is stopping here is The Krazy Lobster.
You might be wondering of all the places you can go in Costa Maya, why here?
The Krazy Lobster is not only one of the most affordable beach bars you can go to (like seriously, they have $4 taxi rides to get there) but it also offers so much from drinks, shopping, beach access, free wifi and more!
It’s a very popular option you’ve probably heard about if you’ve ever asked about what you should do in Costa Maya.
I do want to mention that it isn’t a super luxurious beach club so if that is what you’re looking for, Costa Maya isn’t really the cruise port for that.
If you’re looking for the place to go on your next cruise you should definitely give The Krazy Lobster a try!
This post is all about The Krazy Lobster in Costa Maya, Mexico.
GETTING THERE
The Krazy Lobster is very close to the cruise port!
Once you’ve made your way off the ship you will have to go to the very back of the port to get a taxi. This can be a little confusing. There are a lot of twists and turns & shops along the way. You also will pass a couple of pools.
Be sure to get in line or make your voice heard about where you want to go because it can get a little crazy back there and you’ll be skipped just standing around.
The Krazy Lobster is only about a 5-10 minute drive from the port and costs $4/per person to get there. It’s a really affordable cab ride compared to other cruise ports!
The strip of beach that the Krazy Lobster resides on has a bunch of different beach bars all the way down you could go to and also tons of vendors to do some souvenir shopping.
If you’re looking for the most affordable place to hang out for the day in costa maya this is going to be the place to go!

AREA
When you arrive to the the Krazy lobster you will see a building to your right that has some shopping, the kitchen & also the bathrooms that are free to use.
I do want to mention that these bathrooms are kind of gross. They are not very nice & it is one single stall for women and one single for men so a line can form.
The bathroom is really the only negative I don’t like about the Krazy Lobster but it is manageable. Definitely wear your shoes & bring hand sanitizer!
Straight ahead when you arrive there are lots of beach tables & chairs with umbrella coverage. They also have lounge chairs on the water if you prefer.
There will be a waiter that seats you. They give you a flyer that shows everything they offer for free which includes things like:
-wifi
-water sports
-chairs
-bathrooms
-mini margarita
The Krazy Lobster is the first beach bar in a long section that you can walk down if you would like of other beach bars and clubs you can hang out at for the day.
FOOD & DRINKS
I really love the free margarita samples they give out to everyone once you arrive. It’s a great way to try a drink & stay cool in the hot sun.
I usually opt to get beers in Mexico though instead of mixed drinks but they have both.
The food is a miss for me. Some people really like it and I will say I have only tried one thing. I’ve heard better opinions about the seafood. We had beef fajita nachos. I’m not sure what the meat was but it did not look the best and it was tough.
I would suggest eating before you get off of the ship and waiting until you get back on to eat again. If you don’t eat there, you could also get food in port but it will be a little over priced.
CRUISE PORT DAY MUST HAVES:
MASSAGES
The massages are the main reason in my opinion to go The Krazy Lobster! No where else on any of your cruise port stops are you going to find a place that offers hour long massages starting at $20!
Now you might have to do some negotiating on certain days, I’ve personally been quoted different prices for massages but $20 is the going rate I have gotten most of the time. From my experience, you might get a better price if you speak Spanish.
These massages are great because if you were to get one in port it may cost $60+ or on the ship upwards of $120-200!
They offer massages right there on the beach, you can be in the shade though so it won’t be too hot! It’s an awesome way to spend your afternoon and a big reason to come to The Krazy Lobster.
In my experience the massages here have always been good and I am someone who gets professional massages back home for much more.
SHOPPING
If you want to buy some souvenirs in Costa Maya to bring back home the shopping around The Krazy Lobster has some great options!
They offer similar items to ones you can buy in port but for a better price.
I would suggest taking a look at all of the shops down the long strip of beach before making a purchase because you may find the same thing you want but for a better price.
You definitely should haggle with the local vendors to get the price you want. Don’t just go for the first price they give you. You are also able to pay in USD which is really convenient and I would recommend over a credit card.
If you are looking for fake designer bags as well they have tons to choose from that actually hold up well! I personally have a cross body bag that they had a starting price of $65 but we got for $30.
The only thing I don’t love about the shopping is some of the vendors walking around while you are sitting trying to enjoy the beach/your food and drinks who want to sell you items.
You can kindly tell them no and they will move on but it is quite a few who will ask.
STAFF
The staff at The Krazy Lobster are pretty good overall. They can be a little enthusiastic on wanting you to come to their beach club over others but that is basically everyone around a cruise port stop.
The waiters who serve you food and drinks at the beach tables in my experience have been attentive and as quick as possible.
In regards to the massage staff, they have never had a conversation with me but they have been good at their job which I appreciate.
They also are very fast and nice when it comes to getting you a taxi to go back to the cruise port. You will have one within a couple minutes if there isn’t one already in the area for you to immediately get into.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Top things I like:
-Cheap cost
-Included ammenities
-Massages
Top things I don’t like:
-People walking around trying to sell me things
-Bathrooms
Overall I really enjoy The Krazy Lobster and think it is one of the best options for spending your day in Costa Maya, Mexico.
I appreciate the cheap prices not only to get to this location but also at the beach bar, the level of service compared to some other bars down the way and the ease of doing this as an excursion.
It isn’t the nicest or most luxurious place to hang out and that is important to know, but it still is a stand out for Costa Maya.
You can get to and from this beach bar for $8, grab a beer for $2 and get a massage for $20. For $30 total that is a steal and an awesome way to spend your day in port.
Give The Krazy Lobster a try for yourself and leave me a comment if you have of what you thought!
